Hello
2
We hope you find these lists useful. If there is something that should be added, please do so!
3
4
There are many empty cells. Some are empty because they don't make sense. The rest are empty because the data has not been filled in. Please fill in missing data!
5
Cells highlighted like this need to be verified. Please help do so.
6
Cells highlighted like this are likely missing data that should be easy to fill in. Please help do so.
7
8
We realize that not everything perfectly fits into the categories we're definining. If it makes sense to add a new category, it will be added. However we should discuss this first.

Editing
16
This document is editable. Please help improve it. Unfortunately, we've had an incident where it looks like someone accidentally deleted a column. No big deal. Please watch out!
17
If we have more bad edits in the future, we can always undo. Unfortunately might lose changes from after the bad edit too...
18
Per-cell formatting should be very rare, if ever used. Never change the text color to look like adjacent cells. Add a URL or leave it.
19
20
If you find you cannot edit the sheet, I probably messed up. It's apparently relatively easy to accidentally lock this whole document. I think it has to do with the iOS sheets app and copyig the link from there. Please shoot me an email if I accidentally lock it down.

22
TabsWe've created a bunch of tabs to organize the various lists. Don't forget to scroll and check other lists!
23
Pattern DriversHigh level software that sends data to "controllers".
24
ControllersThings that can generate the specific timings & packet formats needed to drive many addressible LEDs. Controllers usually can hold and repeat at least one frame.
25
PixelsAddressible LEDs. The innovation that enabled this world of wonder.
26
Pixel ICsThe main chip usually embeded into Pixels as a standalone component. Should not include LEDs.
27
Pixel DecodersDevices that are not meant for driving pixels directly but are capable of sharing the same standard communication standards that addressable pixels use.
28
Level ConvertersDumb memory-less devices that translate to pixel data from another format
29
AdaptersSometing that aids the hardware compatibility between some (usually commodity) "controller" hardware and the light strings/panels. Likely cannot hold a frame on its own.
30
DIY MicroBoardsUseful microprocessors boards that can (usually) be used directly with certain pixel types. Pairing with an "adapter" is common.
31
ConnectorsConnectors that are commonly used in LED products
32
Drive LibrariesSoftware to turn off the shelf or commodity hardware into "controllers".
33
Diffusive MaterialsMaterials that the community has tested as a light diffuser.
34
Commercial Pixel SystemsComplete systems that are usually mostly only compatible with a closed ecosystem. Often, but not only, based on the same common technologies but "cleaned up", "easy to use", or provided as a service.

Many Thanks to Mr Cameron Tacklind for starting this doc :-)

38
Tidiness
39
Please endeavor to keep consistent formatting throughout this document. Please fix any inconsistencies you find.
40
Commas are list separators. Periods are decimal separators. Use the Oxford comma.
41
Numerically comparable columns should only contain numbers in the cells. We use a "custom number format" to append the appropriate units for display purposes.
42
Remove all formatting when adding information.
43
44
Filters
45
Most pages are setup with filters on columns. If you use them, please reset selection to "all" once you're done. Alternatively, make a copy of the whole document for yourself.
46
47
Notes
48
Please use "Notes", the Google Sheets feature (not the column), for "extra" information about specific cells.
49
50
Discussion
51
If there are possibly contentious changes or you're unsure about any changes you've made or would like to make, please use a "Comment".
